Olive Talley: Director, Writer & Producer

Olive Talley is an award-winning producer, director and writer who is passionate about telling stories that make a difference. 

Olive is a veteran journalist in television, print, radio and online media who prefers documentary style, in-depth storytelling. She honed her video production skills in network television as a staff producer for primetime news magazine shows, Prime Time Live! at ABC and Dateline NBC in NY.  Her television work has been twice honored as a national Emmy finalist, and winner of a National Headliner for Outstanding Network Documentary, a Cine Golden Eagle Award, and a DuPont Columbia Award for team coverage.  Her reporting at the Dallas Morning News earned a George Polk Award, two Texas Headliner Awards, multiple Dallas Press Club awards, along with the honor of being named a Pulitzer Prize Finalist for investigative reporting. Before moving to Dallas, she worked at the Houston Post, the Houston Chronicle, and United Press International, where she covered the space program and Texas’ Death Row. She also worked in radio news in Austin, San Antonio and Houston. Olive is a past board member of the non-profit Investigative Reporters & Editors at the University of Missouri. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and attended Harvard University on a Nieman Fellowship. 

Olive worked closely with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross to conceptualize and create more than 60 hours of educational video content for the Institute of Child Development at TCU, renamed in honor of Dr. Purvis after her death in 2016. Olive considers her work on behalf of vulnerable and traumatized children to be some of the most meaningful and important work of her career.
