Guy Hernandez is an Emmy-award winning freelance photographer with over 20 years experience as a Director of Photography. He has earned huge respect as a talented, versatile and technical photographer who is skilled in full-length feature films, documentaries, network news magazine shows, corporate videos and professional sports. He’s also a seasoned aerial, jib and drone operator.
He began his career as a news photographer in Flagstaff, Ariz., followed by Salinas, CA., and then KDFW in Dallas. In 2000, he went into business for himself and developed clients ranging from FOX News, NBC News, CBS News, ABC News, Discovery Channel, the History Channel, BBC to PBS, as well as a host of corporate clients.
Known for his technical skills, can-do attitude and cheerful sense of humor in high-stress, deadline-driven environments, Guy is a highly sought-after talent. His work has earned him some of the news industry’s most prestigious awards: a national Edward R. Murrow, the National Press Photographer’s Association “Photographer-of-the-Year” honors three times, and numerous National Headliners and Emmy Awards, among others. In 2009, he was honored for “best cinematography” for a documentary he shot in South Louisiana, “Tide of Tears.” He served as the Executive Producer, Director, Cinematographer, and Editor of his latest documentary, “Lube Job,” which won international awards at numerous film festivals and was distributed to universities worldwide.
